About Us

The Story of Sutton Challengers CC (SCCC)

Our Origins

Picture this: it's the year 2010. A handful of cricket fanatics come together, driven by a shared passion for the game. What started as a single friendly team snowballed into a thriving community of over 100 members. Driven by this momentum, Sutton Challengers CC formally established and registered as a club affiliated with the Surrey Cricket Foundation and the ECB in 2015.

SCCC in 2026: A New Era

Fast forward to today, and SCCC has become a powerhouse of local cricket with 125+ registered members. As we enter the 2026 season, the club is reaching its most exciting milestone yet with expanded teams and high-level league placements.

We offer a place for everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros:

  • 5 Saturday League Teams: Competing in the prestigious Surrey Championship Cricket Leagues.
  • Women’s Softball Team: A brand-new team for 2026, focusing on fun, fitness, and inclusivity.
  • Colts Academy: Two age groups (U11 and U13/14) playing in the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship.
  • Sunday XI: Friendly, social cricket played across the Surrey area.

Commitment to Development

SCCC organizes indoor and outdoor net sessions throughout the year, overseen by ECB-qualified coaches. These sessions ensure the continuous development of both our Adult and Colts players, preparing them for the rigors of league cricket.

Our Primary Objectives

Since its inception, SCCC has fostered cricket at the grassroots level with these core goals:

  • Promote Participation: Encouraging amateur cricket for everyone in the community.
  • Accessibility: Making it easy for locals to pick up a bat or ball.
  • Pathway to Excellence: Providing quality coaching and facilities for young people and adults alike.
  • Community Spirit: Creating opportunities for both recreation and intense competition.

The Season That Never Ends

In addition to league play, SCCC hosts an annual internal T20 tournament every summer and an Indoor Cricket tournament during the off-season. With over 80+ players participating in these events, we prove every year that:

"THE CRICKETING SEASON NEVER ENDS AT SCCC"
